Lyrics
The Veery ©2014 Susan Kane BMI
The veery nests on the ground.
She sings so sweetly
A high and silvery sound
By the time the peonies fall down
She has flown
The veery, makes her way
a perilous journey so far away.
clouds and winds won't blow her astray
from the Orinoco
My feet are bound to the forest floor
I have no wings, I cannot soar
My voice uncertain, rough and unsure
Return veery to my back door
Winter is dreary, chilly and dark
we grow weary, wishing for a spark
fires burning, spring return
bring that silvery song
The veery nests on the ground.
She sings so sweetly
A high and silvery sound
By the time the peonies fall down
She has flown
